FIRST
For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology — the organisation behind every robot on this site.
FIRST is a non-profit organisation founded by Dean Kamen in 1989. Its primary goal is to encourage kids of all ages to take an interest in science, technology and engineering.
FIRST hosts a variety of technology programmes in many countries around the world, for children from preschool to seniors. It currently provides frameworks for some 650,000 students worldwide, about 17,000 of them in Israel — coached by thousands of mentors and volunteers across every programme.
The FIRST Israel chairman and founder is former I.D.F. Air Force commander, colonel of the reserves Avihu Bin Noun.

The competition
How a season works
Kickoff
In early January, FIRST reveals the year's game to every team in the world at the same moment. Nobody knows what is coming.
Six weeks of build
Strategy analyses the game, mechanics prototypes and machines the robot, control writes the code and wires the board, and community keeps the story going.
District events
Israeli teams compete across several district events, playing in three-team alliances and earning points towards the district championship.
Championship
The top teams travel to the FIRST Championship to play against the best teams in the world. We have represented Israel there in six seasons.
